the credits are in my scraps.

I am now going to go collapse into bed, 27hrs now!  I can technically still go on and work but my ears and my back says no.  Saying that, I was up for 3 days straight in my first year, then performed in an evening concert on the 3rd day. That was an interesting day XD

Volume control, hand and eye icons

I thought that it would make sense to have the volume control on Yu's actual phone, although I think this was probably already suggested before.

Basically, on selecting the phone in the inventory there would be a volume button below the map button, which would make the phone show this :

On selecting mute, the volume of the game is muted, and selecting the blue bars raises or lowers the volume, or maybe it just needs to be hovered over.

Kemi's Phone

Kemi's phone is here. I have based it off the FF7 Advent Children phone, with the rotating screen and camera on the side. The back has a screen for showing incoming calls and a thinner screen showing battery life.

Sprite update!!!!

Oh yeh, I dno which colour to go for, for the bartender's uniform so I'll wait til the bgs are done for it then it can either go with or against the decor.  Either way, he looks pretty snazzy in that jazzy vest.

Sprites done, now I'll focus on the audio for the a bit! YAY.

Painted Defib (sort of)

I have attempted to paint over the defib model...however it will probably need some more work LOL.

Post Pros of BGs / Notice

I believe I can finally say that the bgs for the train corridors and Yu's room are officially COMPLETE.  Feel free to post up feedback but I highly doubt I shall go back to tweak minor changes unless they're horribly obvious.



Minor change for the 2nd pic but once the player has talked to everyone on the train on day2, they'd need to click on the magazine on the shelf to trigger the magazine cutscene.  I tried to make the room 'colder' but I think I've failed and just made it look 'refreshing' compared to the other bgs.  Oh well. It's certainly not 'warmer' compared to the corridor scenes but 'creepy'...not sure.  May take back my word and only tweak Yu's room tomorrow when I figure out how to make this creepier.





Hmm okay this is the first time I'm seeing all these bgs together and I've definitely over done it with the red hues on carriage 4 LOL. Silent Hill 3 overdose anyone? Actually maybe it's a good thing that it's slightly OTT, it makes a contrast to the subtle-ness

If everyone approves minus the minor tweaks, I'd say these are done and ready to be inserted into the engine.

Michelle: Since I'm in the process of re-writing most of the bits on day2, how do you feel about doing some of the assets for the magazine cutscene?  I'll draw up thumbnails and talk you step by step on what I'd like you to do if that's okay?  I'm thinking about using the art styles used in the cutscenes of fragile dreams combined with the use of silhouette type art. No humans involved, just inanimate objects with suggestive creepy concepts with mostly black bgs. Rope Emma/Kelly into this if you feel overloaded lol.  I'm also thinking 4-5 different illustrations but I'll try and keep it down to just 4.

More Yu Sprite designs

Here be some expressions using the 'Normal1' base, and I think I'll do some more expressions using 'Normal2' base which is one of my original sketches.

Mike already knows this but I'll explain the animation process here.  After our initial deadline 'scare' I've decided to scrap the frame by frame animation like how it's done in Phoenix Wright for now.  While it'll be nice to actually have a slightly more sophisticated animation, I'd rather get the majority of the work done to a good quality standard.  Perhaps Yu will be the most 'animated' character compared to the rest as he will have two different 'bases' for his expressions - who knows!  We can always add and fine tune any details if people are still up for making a full version after I hand this dissertation in!

I'm really motivated to release a full version too - I'm still getting a good amount of positive responses on dA and countless people has asked whether there will be a full ver and when it'll be out etc. etc. etc! I don't really wanna disappoint those people either ;)

Anyway think I'll have an early night (lol it's 5:30am) as the plumber is coming round in the morning to fix the bathroom tap and I'm apparently going to a dance workshop Jane Austen style for some Bathonian festival later in the afternoon so I maybe dead for the rest of the day.  If anything text of give me a call if anything.

Sprite designs

Well, finally got round to it.  I have to say...this style is looking pretty bad-ass!



With coloured scarf which I'm really liking the idea of.  Maybe all the other characters can also have one item of clothing that is textured and coloured?


Obviously this one looks a bit weird using a CU bg but with the other normal bg it should be ok. It looks mighty swell - though I may just make the outlines a bit thicker.


 ... I really love the idea of the single coloured item...O_O
Special Banksy styled edition XD I shall start doing Yu's other expressions as well as the other characters now.  This is getting pretty exciting :D :D :D (Also cheers for Errol for his company and feedback too! ^_^)

Defib!

Here is the defib. This was the second attempt at one as the first one came out....weird. It looked melted for some reason..lol

I kept the paddles flat because on the images for the portable defibs they had flat sticky paddles. I guess because they are more portable. I can do the proper ones if you want though.

Quick update

Heya all, just a quick update tonight as I'm not feeling too good and wanna get off to bed. But I need to put this up as I wanna get working on it all tomorrow so I basically need info on what ones people thing work better, and which don't.

First up is the computer close up. Jade already did a quick image that was used for the interface design post, so the first one is more similar to that.


But I was wondering if a slightly more angled pose would work better? So here's a quick rougth of that.


(The laptops dead).

Also I've done a few designs for the defib unit. The first is based off a real design while the others are based off of that but have a lot made up.


And finally I've got a quick paint over I did of ML's train background. A very quick paint over just to get an idea. I was wondering though what is the colour scheme going to be of the train? For this quickly I just went with Emma's. Obviously more detail would be added but it gives us an idea of what it will look like(possibly).

Train bedroom layout (wip)

Good evening to all! I've just been playing around with the room layout, working with previous concept images. I'm not sure if this is something that has been thought about much (and perhaps I'm being too fussy), however the train is already quite wide. If the bed was to be facing the door and have a wardrobe squeezed in there too, you're looking increasing the train width a great deal further. If you are happy for that, I'll stick to the concepts (which are awesome - I really like the sense of space - I know it seems slightly contradictory in bringing this issue up).

To give a rough idea of current train width:

If not I have 2 propositions. First is that the bed is placed adjacent to the door - as opposed to perpendicular - so the room runs along the length of the train. The other option is to 'compact' the room. This wouldn't effect camera angles to an extent since walls can be removed in order to have a wider field of view. Below is some quick modelling to give a rough idea of item placement in the compact view.

I am off for the day on Thursday since I'm working on Saturday so I can sit down and get the room modeled out in detail once all is confirmed.
