The House

This is a pretty old flash horror game called The House. It is not related to the movie epic The Room.

Also there is the sequel, cleverly named The House 2.

  1. Nice, cheers Rumzi! I just finished playing both of them and I'll give it to them for making it very atmospheric and pulling the 'scares' nicely.

I found that I just ended up clicking everywhere waiting for something to happen and there's not really a lot happening in terms of narrative. Some of the effects were brilliant however, reminds me of the Thai film 'Shutter' which is awesome. The scares were a bit cliché but as I said still done quite effectively.

This is a good example of what we could do and can do better. Thanks!!

  2. I agree I think this games quite good, could be done better though. I kinda like though how it exploits the point and click mechanics in that in most point and clicks you usually end up clicking on things a lot when you're stuck - the fact something actually happens after repeatedly clicking is kinda scary in itself XD

  3. Really? I got a little bit bored of it because it ended up being a bit formulaic XD I knew that something was about to happen if I spam clicked it but maybe for our game we should use it sparingly. I love the 'cinematics' of it though and the use of sound design was quite good.

  4. Yeh he probs get s alittle dull after a while - tbh i didnt play that much of it so repeated clicking would of worn me out. I suppose it would also make the game confusing as you wouldnt be sure if you're progressing or not.

  5. hahaha that was awesome XD and quite scary i actually jumped a couple of times! but yeah again it was more guesswork, i didnt really have a plan just moved through the rooms clicking everything in sight XD very very cool idea though and pulled off not too badly :)

  6. Great. 3rd person it is because it'll be easier to tell the player where to go or not to do something in that case.

Agree...I love some of the cheesy effects...it still technically works! XD
